LAN Cable Wiring - Straight & Crossed

This information is freely available on the web, but I've decided to put it here for my own use so that I don't have to keep looking for it every time.

How to hold and read pin numbers

You should hold the jack with the terminals on top and the clip at the back.

Wiring for Straight cable

Use this type of wiring for connecting PC-to-HUB. Use the same wiring for both ends of the cable. (i.e. They should be identical to each other if you place them side by side.) You can choose between A-type or B-type. But make sure to use the same for both ends of your cable.

Wiring for Crossed cable

Use this type if wiring if you want direct PC-to-PC connection or Hub-to-Hub. As with the previous, you choose either the A-type or the B-type. Again, make sure you use the same type for both ends of the cable.

That's all there is to it. Enjoy!

Note:
I got the illustrations from here, then modified using them Photoshop to look nicer and be more understandable.
